Relationships and Sex Education
is taught formally to Year 5 and 6 pupils. We think this is a
good time to cover this as part of a broader preparation for changes
in life. Aspects of puberty and the birth of babies will only
be covered in Year 6.
Our approach to Sex Education
complies with L.E.A. guidelines. We treat children with respect
and consequently work hard to promote an atmosphere where questions
may be asked and responded to without fear of ridicule. Teachers
are prepared to answer any serious questions put to them. Male
and female teachers are available to the children for discussion.
Parents who wish will be invited to view the contents of the videos
used before their child sees them.
Parents wishing to withdraw
their child from this part of the curriculum should write to the
Headteacher.
